I liked Forbidden Fruit very much.

The book had an awesome beginning and I was completely hooked, then it lost a bit of steam in the middle and I was worried, but it finished strong and redeemed itself. I liked that the book had a dystopian feel while not being futuristic or removed from reality. That plot element was really well done and centered the story. I thought that the middle while necessary dragged on a bit longer than needed and that the action could have returned a bit earlier.

Alexis made a great enviornmenal agent. I liked that Alexis was feisty and had moxie. Greg was not your conventional scientist- he was full of determination and never a pushover. Combined they had great explosive imperfect personalities. There was a lot of conflict between the two that added to the intensity of their relationship. I will admit though that their verbal sparring was a bit too much for me at times, but overall while the characters were frustrating they were also very endearing. I liked that the author did not sacrifice their personalities for a conventional romance but allowed them to fall in love in their own way.

While I enjoyed the story I ultimately dropped it a star for the slow pace in the middle and for too much conflict between the characters. A great first novel and would definitely read another work by this author. I think anyone who likes action with their romance will be pleased with this book.

Forbidden Fruit edition by Amanda Bozeman Romance eBooks Reviews

I tried to read it. I would change books then try coming back to it. And then again finding myself changing books. For a female that proclaimed to be a fighter she seemed like she was always needing somwone to validate her worth. I couldnt listen to her complain about the negatives as she rolled over and just took it. I juat couldn't finish it.
This book was very addicting. I was counting down the hours at work so I could go home and read.
Alexis is an employee of the movement here to protect people who have been chosen, by a group called One Percenters, to die. The people chosen are trying to find a way to help the fight on global warming and the governmet. Her assignment starts with the chosen subject Greg Meredith. She's sworn to protect him at all cost when something changes in her orders. Instead of turn him in she's told that she has to wait. Greg and her have to find a way to stay hidden and survive until the orders to bring him in come through. During this time they start to have feelings for each other that are against her rules of employment.
This book has alot of action and a relationship that is a fight to the very end. I didn't want to put it down once I started reading it. Loved it! Can't wait to read the next one Amanda releases.
Great job for a first novel. The story line was one that certainly held the attention from the first word, and I couldn't put it down till I finished the book! Although I enjoyed the book, I felt I was reading the second of a series. I wanted to know more about the backstory which was alluded to very superficially. I also felt the characters needed to be 'fleshed out' more. The subplots were not developed sufficiently. Also the resolution worked out just too 'perfectly'.

I am looking forward to more writings from this author. I would recommend getting someone else to help point out areas that need work.
I bought this book back in 2012 and finally got around to reading it this week on my - and boy, am I glad I did. This is a fascinating world that deserves more books, plus more detail about how the world got that way (though I can see it happening right now, so...). It is rich in detail, yet the detail doesn't drag the story down. My only kvetch is the heroine toward the end, and her flip-flopping on the hero. It makes sense, yet I did tend to skim some of those parts to get to the climax of the book. Overall, for a debut book, this is a terrific one - and I hope there are more in the series. If you haven't read this, do - it'll be a good heads up, about what could very well happen to our own world.
First, I felt like I stepped into this book in the middle----the whole storyline with exactly what was going on with the One-Percenters/Balancers, why they were after Greg, what "the movement" was etc was bizarre and undefined. Mostly this book was about the relationship between Alex and Greg. They did have very hot chemistry, but the hot/cold should we/shouldn't we aspect got really old really quickly, and the way they always seemed to be conversing in code and reading each others minds was annoying. There was little character development as far as finding out about each other, yet BAM, they're in love and at least on his side, willing to admit it. Her inability to say it and his willingness to just give up didn't seem to me to match what we did know about these two. Plus, their relationship had a thread of violence and intentional hurt-inflicting to it that I found uncomfortable at times. Spoiler Alert Add in the casual acceptance of an unplanned pregnancy and this was just a big miss for me. NOT recommended.
